Brewery Tours

Unfortunately we have had to cancel all tours within our Brewery due to the rise in confirmed cases of COVID-19.
As we continue to see a rise in cases, we have taken precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety of our customers and staff, and to make sure we’re prioritising the production of our beer.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Visit the Carlton Brewhouse, located 5km’s from the Melbourne CBD at Australia’s largest brewery & home of some of the country’s favourite beers including Carlton Draught & Victoria Bitter.

Here you can go on a beer expedition, following the River of Beer through which 150,000 litres of fresh beer flows each day. You’ll be guided through 150 years of brewing history & knowledge as you experience the sheer scale of this iconic facility on the banks of the Yarra. Return to the Brewhouse to sample our favourite brewery fresh beers, savour some lunch, play in the Brewer’s Yard or enjoy some fun and games on our touch screen displays.

The Tour & Tasting includes a guided tour of the brewery followed by a Carlton Family tasting paddle.
Duration approx. 90 mins.

Beer & Food matched tours are available every Friday & Saturday at noon. After the brewery tour, enjoy a hosted lunch with your tour guide who will talk through the specially prepared food that is matched perfectly with our fresh, cold beers. Duration approx. 2 hours.

Getting here

By Tram
Catch the 109 tram eastbound towards Box Hill from Collins St in Melbourne’s CBD. Allow about 20mins for the tram journey and disembark at stop #22, then walk back one block in the direction you came from and turn right down Thompson St. The Carlton Brewhouse is located at 24 Thompson Street.

By Car
The Carlton Brewhouse is located at 24 Thompson Street in Abbotsford, Victoria - approximately 5km or a 15-minute drive from Melbourne's CBD. Please be aware that there is no public parking available at the Brewhouse, with only limited street parking available. Public transport is recommended.

Come Prepared
This is a real-life working brewery, so all tour guests must wear CLOSED-TOE SHOES (no thongs or sandals) as a safety requirement. We also recommend a hat and sunscreen during the warmer months. No photography is permitted whilst on tour, to protect our trade secrets, however photos before and after the tour in the Brewhouse are definitely encouraged! You can rent a locker for a small charge.

Please note: This is a genuine working brewery and production schedules vary. Generally, the bottling line does not operate on Saturdays, Sundays and some Fridays.

Who can join the tour?

All tour guests must be 18 years or older. It is a Health and Safety requirement that tour guests must not consume alcohol prior to taking the tour.
There’s one kilometre of walking and a number of stairs, with no lifts or ramps available, so please contact us to discuss options if you have mobility requirements.

Stay for a meal

Our kitchen is open from midday, serving up our famous pub fare. All tour guests are welcome to stay at the Brewhouse after the tour to enjoy a meal and some brewery fresh beers as well as a selection of wines and basic spirits.
For larger groups we can gladly hold you a long table in the Beer Hall or Beer Garden or book you a spot in front of our 12ft big screen to watch the footy.
